Nick may say that he's one of the only few honest people he knows, but we're not so sure about that. The Great Gatsby is surrounded by lies.. Nick Caraway and Jay Gatsby are two sides of the same coin: each has built a successful outside to fool others, yet they can now no longer differentiate their true selves from the one they have created for the world. In this ted talk, Seth Godin gives us a lesson of things that may have a lack of trust, the 7 reasons why they are that way, and how to fix them. Nick Caraway says " whenever you feel like criticizing any one, just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had".. This quote doesn't make sense to me because the entire book seems like one big judgment. But then again hes only judging after the fact but it sets us up to be partially attentive to Nicks trust worthiness.
